Naaahhh, but you gotta admit he has an awesome wife!
Afterwards we headed out to the same dive bar I got dragged to a couple of weeks ago when my girlfriend made me go see the most horrible band on the planet, Joe Dirt. Well, as luck would have it, the second worst band on the planet was playing - some Van Halen cover band, complete with a David Lee Roth look alike lead singer in a unitard! How sweet is that. (Not very.) But still, something happened there for the very first time.
Are you ready?
I saw The Skipper dance.
I know what you’re thinking - how could we have been married for 5 long years without ever dancing?? Well, I’m really not sure how it happened either, because Lord knows I like to get my groove on, but The Skipper? Another story. He even got out of it at our wedding since it was just the two of us on an island in the middle of the Caribbean. But as we were standing around some woman in our group grabbed hold of Skip’s hand unawares, and dragged him off to the dance floor before he could protest.
“This is gonna be good,” I told my girlfriends.
And it was. Good in a way that is oh, so bad. But no one called 911, mistaking his spastic white-boy gyrations for a tragic medical condition. So I guess that means he did it up right. Worked it out, if you will. And fortunately, he wasn’t the only one suffering from the white man’s overbite as he cabbage-patched his way around the dance floor. If only I had had the video camera…
On Saturday I treated myself to a chick flick. I guess I’m weird, but I actually kind of like going to the movies by myself. So I went and saw this, the first grown-up movie I'd seen since....oh, I can't even remember back that far...
Oh, Hollywood. What have you done?? The whole movie just made me feel sad. Sad in mourning whatever happened to Meg Ryan’s upper lip. Sad in wondering why we can’t just let these beautiful women age…beautifully. I was so excited to see this movie with all these amazing, brilliant women: Meg Ryan, Annette Benning, Candace Bergen, Bette Midler, Carrie Fisher - all beautiful, mature females. And then I sat there for the first 45 minutes of the movie wondering what the heck was going on with my contacts. Seriously, I think half the movie was filmed in soft focus. I can’t be certain, and I googled the crap out of it with no luck, so I can’t prove it, but all the blinking and eye-rubbing in the world wouldn’t bring Meg completely into focus. Or maybe it was the 16 year old in the projection booth. Either way, if you see this movie please comment on that for me. I’m curious if anyone else noticed.
Then today Skip and I went to a movie together:

We loved it. I know, I’m kind of over-loading on the movie watching but I love them so and I never, ever get to see them anymore. I wasn't expecting much out of this one but go figure, I thought this movie was awesome! I loved it. We both laughed out loud. This is common for me but oh, so rare for The Skipper. So that means it was good.
And now, I think I'll go hop in the bathtub and enjoy a bath without a naked Logan barging in on me, throwing a tub of bath toys over my head and climbing in with me. There will be bubbles. There will be my iPod, on the Mello H playlist. There may even be a candle, if I can remember where I hid the lighter.
It's all ending tomorrow. I gotta go live it up while I can.

14 passengers on the bus:
I love the white man overbite. Next time, get video. I too, saw The Women. I tried so hard not to focus on Meg's lip. So I honed in on her hair. Then I was even more bothered. How long did it take to do her hair? Every day. Did you notice that there were no men in the movie? No extras, nothing. Crazy. Good luck with your bath.
Dude, don't knock Van Halen. Dive bars are the absolute best, I love them!
I'm with you on Meg Ryan's lip, WTF happened to her? Her and Goldie Hawn both look like space aliens now, it's sad.
Glad you had a fun childless weekend!
Yay for you, and The Skipper! I'm so glad you got to do all the fun stuff; in fact, I'm copying you for one nite and hope to catch a movie - I'll avoid the plastic surgery fest, thanx! Hope it all ends well :-)
Sorry we can't see "The Skipper"..which is why my husband doesn't dance, by the way.
Agreed with Meg Ryan...seriously...she looks like someone punched her 50 times in the mouth. Her and Goldie Hawn...oh like Casey said...yeah...Goldie Hawn too!
And I really want to see Ghostown...love Ricky Gervase.
Thanks for letting me know it will be good, if I were to ever go to a movie...ever...
OMG, I'm dying laughing...white mans overbite and he was cabbage patching around the floor? HAHAHAHAHA Such a great description! Perhaps if he ever decides to dance again, we could double date. My husband is also not a fan of dancing. When he does dance, we also get white mans overbite, but his favorite move is step together, shrug, step together...kind of like he's confused if he's doing the right thing. He usually, is not. Oh well, we love our men anyway, right?
Heather, please tell me you saw Ricky Gervais on the Emmy's last night. The bit with Steve Carell? I was laughing so hard, John thought I would wake the kid up! Love that guy. Want to see his movie. You know, I have the afternoon to myself today. I may just do that.
Everyone needs a childless weekend once in awhile. Yay for The Skipper for breakin' out the moves! My hubby doesn't dance either. I'm glad. I've seen him do it at home when he thought no one was looking. I am glad to hear good things about Ghost Town, we love that guy! Now that your vacation is over...I tagged you. Check out my post on quirks for details.
Oh, no!!! I am almost guaranteed to see anything with Meg Ryan because I like her so...but if she's not in focus it would be totally ruined for me!
Shoot.
I'll have to check it out and let you know.
I love the part about if you can find your lighter - so true I'm sure :) I want to see The Women! I also love to go the movies myself, although I don't often. I kind of want to see Ghostown - thanks for the review! Maybe I'll drag Hubs...
What's it like to be childless for the weekend? My wife and I have to leave the state, sometimes the country just to be alone for a weekend.
Seriously, good for you two. I would have loved to be there on Friday. I love dive bars and the crowd the goes to them. Wait a minute, that means...
Awesome about handing over the iPod. My wife won one at work and gave it AWAY!!!! I didn't have one mind you! I was like, "Thanks, hon."
In her defense she bought me a fancy one for X-mas.
